Open flash chart plugin ~ Ruby on Rails

August 1, 2008 smacak 1 comment

In my latest Web project I have to dynamically display data from the database using all sorts of charts.

My choice fell on this great plugin for Ruby on Rails – Open Flash Chart:

http://pullmonkey.com/projects/open_flash_chart

Open Flash Chart RoR plugin is based on the original Open Flash Chart project which is available here:

http://teethgrinder.co.uk/open-flash-chart/

There you’ll find helper classes for other programming languages and platforms (e.g. Java, PHP, .NET, Perl, Python, etc.).

I’ve been using HostingRails.com for hosting my Ruby on Rails projects for seven months. I must admit that they have excellent service and support staff and I would like to recommend them to everyone – from Ruby on Rails beginners and enthusiasts like me, to more experienced users.

They offer very reasonable hosting plans (starting at 3.59/month). If you’re interested, click here.

Did you ever ask yourself is it possible for a team of 1 to 4 programmers to write a fully working web application in 48 hours tops? I’m proud that Ruby on Rails web framework gives an affirmative answer to that question. And here’s the proof.

Rails Rumble 2007

RailsRumble is a competition which shows what can be accomplished with Rails in 48 hours. Judging by the end results it can be accomplished a lot. This competition is a proof of the fact that Rails gives you the possibility to think and code fast and have an elegant and simple results.

And now, see the results for yourself. Here is a list of mind blowing apps which won the competition:
