Subnet tools

 

While I was studying about subnetting for my CCNA certificate I came across at nice subnet tool written in Javascript, IPv4 Network calculator.

On the same site (Subnetonline) there is nice and simple tutorial about subnetting, IP classes and Subnet masks. I recommend it to beginners.

Also, you might want to check the official IP Addressing and Subnetting for New Users tutorial from Cisco and read Wikipedia article about subnetworks.

More complex subnet tools are available at http://www.subnet-calculator.com/. These tools are slower than IPv4 Network calculator because they use server side scripting (PHP) for processing subnetting calculations.

In the next post I’ll be writing about IPv4 address ranges. My plan is to make a diagram that will show and describe every important IPv4 address range. I will use it as a reminder for my CCNA exam.
